3rd GPFSF Team Tournament 2013

A representative team, consisting of four employees of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and one student in the Police Academy, participated in the 3rd International German Police & Fire Sports Federation Table Tennis Team Tournament in Vetschau, Germany during the period 10.-13.10.2013.

All teams were separated in two subgroups – 5 teams in the group of our team. After the end of the team matches in the subgroups, our representative team took second place with three wins and one loss.

According to the regulations of the Tournament, at the semifinal Bulgaria played against the combined team of Berlin, composed of competitors, representing the public institutions of the city. After the close-run match our police team qualified for the final. At the final our colleagues played against the police team of Berlin and lost the game. Therefore the team of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior finished on the second place.

At the end of the Tournament there was an awarding ceremony and a gala dinner for all competitors.

 
IV. Eagles Cup

 The IV. Eagles Cup International Championship was held on October 5 and 6 2013 in Ullo, Hungary.

299 competitors from 34 clubs and 9 countries – Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden and Ukraine, participated in the event.

The round robin tournament system included the following disciplines: pattern, free sparring, special technique, individual and team power test and pre-arranged sparring.

The Bulgarian representative delegation consisted of 10 competitors – 7 of them members of the Central Police Taekwon Do Club. Even though the competition was tough our team won 2 golden, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Yuliyan Iliev – employee of the Combat Training And Sports Centre – Bulgarian Ministry Of Interior was team leader and coach.

 
National Police Self-defense and Karate Championship

 The National Police Self-defense and Karate Championship was held on Ocotber 8 in the city of Pravets.

Over 100 competitors from 23 sporting clubs, members of the Sports Association of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interiror participated in the the categories: "Police Practice", "Karate - Individual" and "Karate - Team".

The opening ceremony was attended by the deputy mayor of Pravets Municipality - Mr. Vasil Simeonov, the chief of the Prevets Police - commissioner Lyubcho Vasilev and the general secretary of the Sports Association of the Ministry of Interior - commissioner Ivan Mladenov.

 
Success for the Bulgarian policemen at the "Sofia" Marathon

 The 30th annual "Sofia" Marathon was held on October 6, 2013, in the Bulgarian capital. Being an international event, it also provides the ranking for the National Marathon Championship.

The Ministry of Interiror employee Silvia Dunekova was the first one among the female competitors to pass the finish line, thus becoming the Women National Champion of Bulgaria.

In the men's category, the 43-year-old Georgi Georgiev from the Regional Directorate of Interior - Yambol achieved remarkable success finishing 9th in the overall ranking, thus becoming bronze medalist in the National Championship.

 
Exhibition football game between Regional Directorate - Blagoevgrad and the Police of Bergamo, Italy

 On September 29, 2013, a friendly football match between the teams of the Regional Directorate of Interior - Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria) and the Police of the city of Bergamo (Italy) was held at the south-western Bulgarian city of Simitli.

Although both teams struggled to best their opponent, the game ended up a draw - 3:3. At the end, commemorative plaques were exchanged in sign of good will. The Italian policemen received their awards personally from the director of the Regional Direcorate of Interior-Blagoevgrad - commissioner Georgi Kostov.
