1st Police Sports Conference and 13th USIP Congress

The 1st Police Sports Conference and 13th USIP Congress took place in Kuwait during the period 21.-28.03.2014.

The events were organized on a very high professional level and were very useful for the future work of the USIP.

The representatives of the Ministry of Interior of Republic of Bulgaria made significant contacts with most of the representatives of the police sports organisations, members of the Union.

New member in the governing bodies of the International Police Sports Union

Chief Inspector Gergana Velichkova, responsible for the International relations of the Sports Association of the Ministry of Interior – Republic of Bulgaria has been appointed as a member of the PR & Marketing Committee of the International Police Sports Union (USIP).

11th National Martial Arts Festival

The 11th National Martial Arts Festival took place on 2nd and 3rd November 2013 in sports hall Universiada, Sofia.

Sports Association of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, Central Police Taekwon Do Club, Central Police Karate Ju Jitsu Club and Bulgarian Kendo Federation were organisers of the event.

More than 600 participants from Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and Hungary participated in the competitions in taekwon do ITF, karate, ju jitsu, police self defence and kendo.

11th year in a row the sports hall welcomed all martial arts fans.

The official opening attended: Commissioner Ivan Mladenov – General Secretary of the Sports Association of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, Veselin Velichkov - Expert in the Youth and Sports Commission, Tomo Borisov, DPSc. – Vice-President of the International Ju Jitsu Federation, Master Panagiotis Gialamas – Chairman of the Grek Taekwon Do Federation, Zvezdan Milenkovic – Chairman of the Serbian Taekwon Do Federation and Gabor Szalay – member of the Managing Committee of the Hungarian Taekwon Do Federation.

 
2nd Meeting of the Executive Committee of the USPE

  The second annual meeting of the Executive Committee of the European Police Sports Union (USPE) took place in Madrid, Spain from 1st to 3rd November 2013.

The Spanish colleagues impressed all members of the Committee with the perfect organization of the event.

Gergana Velichkova, employee of the Combat Training and Sports Centre of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, participated in her capacity of an Assessor in the EC.

The highlights of the meeting were the coming USPE Conference, which will be held from 15th to 18th November 2013 in Eger, Hungary, the application of the new EPLA as well as numerous questionsр regarding the competition rules, the anti-doping tests, the membership of some countries, which were included in the agenda.

The next meeting of the Committee will be hosted by the Sports Association of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and will be held from 14th to 17th May 2014 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

 
3rd GPFSF Team Tournament 2013

A representative team, consisting of four employees of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and one student in the Police Academy, participated in the 3rd International German Police & Fire Sports Federation Table Tennis Team Tournament in Vetschau, Germany during the period 10.-13.10.2013.

All teams were separated in two subgroups – 5 teams in the group of our team. After the end of the team matches in the subgroups, our representative team took second place with three wins and one loss.

According to the regulations of the Tournament, at the semifinal Bulgaria played against the combined team of Berlin, composed of competitors, representing the public institutions of the city. After the close-run match our police team qualified for the final. At the final our colleagues played against the police team of Berlin and lost the game. Therefore the team of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior finished on the second place.

At the end of the Tournament there was an awarding ceremony and a gala dinner for all competitors.
